Shooting at Bywell English Open

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Clay Shooting English Open Event at Bywell on the weekend of the 9th June.
I have been extremely lucky in the past few months to have been invited to events where the weather has been almost perfect! Bywell was no exception! Over the course of the three days, the sun shone and temperatures rose to almost 25 degrees. To those that haven't shot at Bywell before, must! The scenery surrounding the open ground is breathtaking.

The DTL, held on the Sunday and final day of the open consisted of 100 registered DTL shots over four layouts. Over 480 shooters took part to win a large cash prize!

Here are some photos capturing the day...!

S&CBC Event at Bywell

Last Saturday, I hosted my very first S&CBC event at Bywell in Northumberland. I met with Paul who talked me through what would happen throughout the day whilst setting up the fine bone china for afternoon tea. Paul is very knowledgable and passionate about shooting and instructing. It was good to see I was in safe hands!

A total of 11 ladies attended, a good number for my first event. Paul and I led the introductions and the team was divided up into novice and expert. Equally divided, the teams made their way to the pegs under instruction by Jeff and Paul. I walked to the pegs with the girls who listened ever so carefully to the advice from Paul and Jeff. The instruction was amazing and the ladies benefited from it greatly - the ladies that had never shot before were shooting 5/5! Go girls!

After a good 2 hour instruction, we took a short break to warm up (the north east weather has a lot to answer for!) The competition began and the ladies were shooting well even when the weather took a turn of the worse!

The day went fantastically well and the ladies enjoyed their day thoroughly. Bywell is a fantastic location set in the Northumberland countryside - not too far from Newcastle and perfectly situated just off the A1.

Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club

The past two Saturdays, I have spent with the lovely ladies of the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club! For those that don't know what the S&CBC is, it's a ladies only shooting and afternoon tea club! What better way to start the weekend with a few hours shooting and cake the finish the day off!

I travelled from the North East to Greenquarries Shooting Ground in Cumbria for my very first event hosted by Queen B, Victoria and her assistant, Sam! Greenquarries is surrounded by lush greenland and hills which makes it a beautiful setting.

Upon entering the club house, I was greeted by a cup of a tea and a tonne of cake all beautifully decorated by the ladies.

How nice does this look!

After a short introduction from Victoria, the girls were split into 3 teams of 5 and headed off to their pegs and began their day. The day was very informal. Most of the girls had shot with the club before and new the format and pegs well.

There were prizes for the best team, best novice shot and best expert shot as well as best cake, obviously!

The day was completed by a few glasses of champagne and a cuddle from the owners puppies!
